New Year. New Goals. New Chances.
We’re two weeks into 2013 and all over America, New Years Resolutions are being forgotten minute by minute. These resolutions may work for some of us but for many, we forget what they are by the time summer hits! While it’s great to have such resolutions, it’s better to call them GOALS. Goals that you’d like to work towards and achieve by the end of the year, the end of next year or maybe even in the next five years. And the great thing about goals is, they can be short term or long term, but you have to work on them in order to achieve them. Large goals can be accomplished by creating smaller goals as a stepping ladder to get to the big prize goal. And I know sometimes the circumstance may be against us, but if one way doesn’t work, find another way! reach out for help, take a break, or just exercise patience but please don’t give up! In order not to forget your goals, it really helps to write them down and post them somewhere where you will see them EVERY SINGLE DAY to remind you to keep trying, keep pushing and keep going.
If you haven’t already written down your dreams, get a pen/pencil and paper (or phone) and start writing (or typing, but make sure you print it!). Personally, my goal is to really put myself out there as a graphic designer by the end of this year. But that’s only one of my short term goals. My long term goal however, is to open my own design studio in at least the next 5-6 years. But you have to start off small and make your way up. So how am I starting? By creating a simple online page for my personal designs and client work called Monique Sterling Designs ( and your support would be so appreciated!)It’s small now, butwith enough perseverance, I know I can build my audience by the end of the year (another short term goal). Building my page will create enough exposure to get me that much closer to my dream. And if you’re a visual artist, photographer, designer or illustrator and your goal is to put your work out there as well, start here by submitting your work!
No goal is unachievable if you stay focused and drown out the negativity. For all the aspiring visual artists, designers and illustrators out there, screw everybody who says “artists are poor.” In this day and age, we’re making more money more than EVER! And if you guys ever need advice, inspiration, help with anything send me a message! I’m here for ya! I’d really love to get to know my followers and support all your endeavors. For 2013, I want to share my experiences with you all and help you accomplish your goals. So go ahead, start writing and if you want, let me know what they are! I’d love to hear em!
